More Answers... (the easy ones)
k, so I'm posting a few more answers. Feel free to ask more questions! I'm enjoying this... sorry it has taken so long. There is a lot going on right now. But I have more answers on the way!

These are the easy ones...

How many licks to the chewy center of a Tootsie Pop?

Adam, Adam... You should know this one! It's three, of course.

How'd you get your nickname?

It's my DJ name, which I chose myself, back in I believe 1998. I'd been to Delilah's bellydance retreat on Maui, with a mermaid theme. I really connected with the concept of mermaids. Later that year, I came to the realization that I could not fully commit to being a bellydancer AND being a DJ, and so I had to choose (this is because of the hard limit of time - most performance opportunities for djs and dancers were on fryday and saturday nights, and so therefore I could only truly commit to one, because trying to do both meant I would surely wind up cancelling on one side or the other.) This was a really tough choice for me, but I chose djing. At the same time, I wanted to honor (and not completely give up) bellydancing, so taking the name DJ Mermaid was a good choice (and it also fit really well with my DJing, from the artistic perspective.)

At the time, google did not find anyone when I searched for "dj mermaid" (now there are a couple others out there.)

As to bellydance... I haven't been doing much of that for quite some time. On Monday I am about to start a new class. I figure I need a regular class to get me back to regular dancing and I am really looking forward to this (though I also expect it will kick my ass pretty hard, at least at first, as it is a drill class.) I'm feeling a bit intimidated, but mostly really looking forward to it!

Well I see that you took initiative, realized your boundaries in logistics and chose with your heart, which you wanted to do. Still, I think that it never means you ahve to give up dancing on a somewhat-regular basis. I know that I have so many things I enjoy doing and Im rather a Jill of All Trades master at nothing. Still, to bellydance makes me very happy and free. That is what will always matter. Im sure DJing does the same thing. Still, yo ucan do both...but yeah, you had to committ to only one on a professional level.

I like your name. DJ Mermaid has always seemed appropriate for you. Rock on girl and rock on hard! *hugs*

Oooh, I have been wanting to get back into a class again. Are you doing an East Bay class?

Yes! It is Monday evenings in downtown Oakland. Here is the link:

I'd suggest calling her and asking if there is space in the class. I am doing the drill class because I want conditioning. It would be great to have you there too!
