Most Booful Kwissmass Twee EVAH!
Photos will be posted tomorrow soon. In the meantime, I'd just like to say this:

We built a Kwissmass Twee. It has amazing lighting, sentimental and whimsical ornaments and plushies, vintage sock monkeys, bunnies, carrots, Hello Kitty, plushies in bunny costumes, a plush computer... I could go on. It also has multimedia effects!

Wanna see it up close and personal? Come to movie night tonight (Thursday) It's the Sigur Ros documentary - gorgeous imagery and awesome sound on our pro system! Or, on Sunday, we're screening the Star Wars Holiday (TV) Special from 1978! Both at 8pm. PM me for address.

I'm conflicted (very) about xmas itself. But, I do love a good Twee - especially the way we do it, recycle stylee - no trees had to die, and no fake tree either! This is Jovino's original design using all recycled materials (except for baling wire and zip ties) and the lights are low-energy LEDs and cold cathode tubes.

10 smooches or Gimme Some Love!

How long will the tree stay up? I won't be able to see it until next month.

We need pictures!! :)

And, totally random, but I have a DJ/musical knowledge question for you: If I were in the market for some music in the Jazz-Jam session, House fusion (In the arena with Blue Note Revisited and uh... maybe Do Make Say Think or Tortoise but more on the Blue Note end of the spectrum), what would you recommend? I am also totally assuming that you're familiar with those rererences... but if not I'll try to think up some more. =) Any help would be OH, SO appreciated.

Pictures will be taken (hopefully tomorrow!)

Will give it some thought... do you know about Beatport? (.com natch) It is like itunes but for DJs... they have a ton of music, at a better bitrate than the itunes and no lame-ass DRM (the thing that makes it so you can't play a track you *purchased* from itunes on another computer without authorizing it, and there are only so many auths you are permitted...)

They also have long samples (2 minutes!) and a pretty nifty interface (just don' click your "back" button as it is all in flash - well-done flash though.)

If you connect there and do some searches you might find some good stuff... also, LastFM.com is a site that links music with other similar music... so you put in a group or producer you like and it makes suggestions.

I'll have time to actually look into this myself in the next few days (after Fryday) but in the meantime, there are a few leads.

I'm happy to help, and quite flattered to be asked! :-)

We wanna see

the tree! sounds really cool!

C. hates Xmas, so no tree at our house. Of course, he can't stop me from buying him Christmas presents, cause that's just how I be!

I like the idea of making a tree from recycled materials. Superb!

Re: We wanna see

It's so awesome. Jovino came up with the idea a couple years ago and we've been doing it (with a few tweaks) ever since... I believe this is our third tree. Photos soon! (Probably Fri or Sat... we have a big appt tomorrow with a production house about getting our stuff made, so it'll have to be after that.)

Jovino hates xmas too... my feelings on it are VERY mixed... but, the thing I learned from Santa(rchy, yo) is that xmas doesn't belong to *them* - it can be whatever *we* want. Which has actually brought me a lot of healing over the years. More on this layer (maybe)... but I know you know my history with my Mom's death on xmas day. So, yeah.

Hugs to you, girl! Hope to get to see you again sometime soon.

Re: We wanna see

Yeah, actually, C.'s hatred of Christmas comes from a similar place. It was his dad's favorite holiday, and while his dad didn't die on Christmas, apparently his mom gets completely melodramatic and maudlin. He refuses to spend Christmas with his family, though he seems to enjoy spending it with mine.

It's hard, because I enjoy Christmas. Got a little nuts with buying new wrapping paper, ribbons, present tags and bows at Tar-jhay yesterday! Fortunately, I have many things to wrap up for my sweetie!!!!

I assume the tree has bunny ears?
We might come by Sunday if we're in town. I'll let you know.

It's actually STUFFED with bunnies! (And other plushies.)

Hope you can make it Sunday! You know where we are (and have our #s) - yes?
